Alex Swanson, creator of Nutrition Genome, knows the ins and outs of all things gene-related. His initial interest in genes was triggered when he felt pulled to get a better understanding to why his wife’s body had experienced a horrible reaction to pharmaceutical drugs. Doctors were not able to give Alex the answers he needed. “I started looking at data files with all of these genes and began to connect the dots that I couldn’t before.” In this episode of Meathead Hippie, Alex Swanson talks about how observing our genetic pathways can lead us to find out exactly how our bodies respond to specific triggers in the brain. Alex also provides ways that we can use exercise, heat therapy, and supplements to regulate our neurotransmitters and reduce stress. “When you can understand your genes, you are then able to take control of your stress.”
